We
all lack a number of things that limit our ability to succeed. From our looks,
personality, brains, wealth, health, and other key areas, we have disadvantages
that hold us back from reaching our dreams. Writers are no different. They are
restrained by real or self-imposed barriers.
Authors
have certain things that could limit their book marketing efforts, including:
* Phobias and insecurities
* Low Discretionary Funds
* Lack of Time
* Bad Attitude
* No Confidence
* Shortage of Marketing Knowledge
* Physical Limitations
* Deficient Technological Skills
So, how do you work around whatever real or
perceived obstacles that stand in your way to successfully market your books?
* Change your attitude and thus your approach to
marketing.
* Improve your aptitude — read up, attend writer
conferences or marketing webinars, or ask questions of others so that you feel
empowered with knowledge about marketing books.
* Get help from a book publicist to do things
for you.
* Take a leap of faith and do something you
never saw yourself as being capable of doing
* See a therapist to overcome your mental
baggage.
* Hire a marketing coach to navigate the
landscape for you with strategic advice.
Let me tell you something:
* You can break through.
* You can be more than what you have done.
* You can rise beyond what you think you are
capable of.
* You can think better and do better.
Now, look to YES as the answer to each and
every question:
* Can you improve upon an ability or trait that
you have?
* Can you turn a perceived negative into a
positive, and not in spite of but because of it?
* Can you overcome or ignore certain deficits?
* Can you develop a whole new skill that you
never even thought about until now?
* Can you get lucky?
* Could circumstances change that now favor what
you already possess?
* Can you get very good help to put you over the
top?
That’s it. No more pep talks are needed. Awaken
to the power within you and go out there and find your way to book marketing
success.
