No doubt the person who makes money from marketing a book is the book marketer. But authors and publishers can also benefit in many ways from a well-executed marketing campaign. Here are five ways a book marketing campaign pays for itself without selling enough books to pay for it:
1. By marketing your new book, you call attention to previously published titles that will now see a spike in sales.
2. When marketing your book, you can also market other products, such as CDs, DVDs, downloads, newsletter subscriptions, etc.
3. By promoting your book, you promote and brand yourself, which could lead to a better job, higher consulting fees, more seminars, more clients, or other enriching opportunities.
4. With any book marketing campaign you increase traffic to your Web site. You can cash in via ad revenue or by capturing email addresses to sell to.
5. You can get investors or sponsors for your book marketing campaign, thus you won’t have to pay anything out of pocket to promote your book.
Of course, the biggest pay-off to any book marketing campaign is that you can impact those who are exposed to your message. By letting others know of your book, you will be in a better position to inform, enlighten, inspire, and empower others. Books contribute to people’s lives and you can make a difference in the lives of others. You cannot put a price on that.
