Whom Do You Contact For Book Help?

What percentage of the American public wants to write a book?
What percentage of those people actually write a book?
What percentage of those get their book published?
What percentage of those people actively market their book?
What percentage do a good job at marketing it and generate decent sales numbers?

Judging by national survey results and book sales figures, we go from a pool of 100 million or more people to maybe tens of thousands. Why?

Well, anyone can dream big or state a desire. It is another thing to take action. But even intention and initiation can’t make up for a lack of writing talent or marketing ability.

So, how do you go from an idea to a product to a sale?

It takes a special person, one who accelerates at something but is also good at a lot of other things — or who has the awareness and ability to hire others to help where they fall short.

Today’s author, of course, has to be one who wants to write and believes in their book, otherwise why publish it? That individual also has to be able to supplement the creative side with the business side of their brain, needing the ability to get it published and then marketed.

If you ask me what does it take to have a book written, published, and successfully sold, I would say that likely it takes a team of resourceful and talented people. It is becoming harder and harder for one person to combine the creativity, energy, passion, skills, knowledge, time, funds, courage, and the desire to do all that it takes to go from concept to book sale.

So, who can the author turn to for help?

Every step of the way in the process there is an app, freelancer, group, or company that can help, whether for a fee or free. Writers will increasingly and repeatedly need to identify where they fall short and recruit the help of others to help them move along.

Where do you need help?

Is it in the writing, researching, or editing phase?
Is it in the publishing phase?
Is it in the marketing arena?

Perhaps, it is all of the above!

Where do you look to find reliable, capable, fair-priced help?

Some will seek referrals from people they trust. Others will search for well-reviewed or highly-rated experts. Perhaps you will look to trade associations or professional organizations to guide you. Some rely on books or trusted news sources to find help.
