Is Brian Feinblum The Book Marketing Poet Laureate?

In honor of April being National Poetry Month, I am trying my hand at a book marketing poem. I hope you enjoy:

You wake up wondering what will happen on this day,
Surely you should market your book, that’s what I’d say.

Speaking? Social media? Advertising? So much to do,
If you won’t try to get it done, then tell me who.

Your procrastinate, avoid, and escape to do busy work,
But if you ignore your priorities you become the jerk.

Your curse the publishing industry and wonder why your greatness they do not see,
But the reality is your weak platform and lack of marketing potential makes them flee.

You need to be creative with ideas that kill,
Or prepare to pay for others to be your shill.

You may cure cancer and write very well,
But you need to push your book to make it sell.

You question, with so many distractions, does anyone even bother to read,
Yes, nearly a billion books bought last year and no I am not smoking weed.

With so much free content, will anyone buy your book?
Yes, but they need to discover it with an eye-catching hook.

Every author wants to know how to rise up the bestseller charts,
But they end up doing nothing, like a bunch of lazy, old farts.

Success comes when you take action and pursue your dream,
Don’t just bury your fears and feelings in apple pie topped with cream.

All authors love to imagine, research, and write,
To break through, marketing must also be in your sight.

I know, so many books compete with yours,
Why is it that yours lags and theirs soars?

Is takes hard work, connections,  creativity, skills, time, money, and luck,
So get off your butt and make sure you really try so your marketing won’t suck!
