How Can We Support Books?

 


Each of us can support books by:

* Buying them

* Reading them

* Gifting them

* Loaning them to others

* Borrowing them from the library

* Posting book reviews on amazon, goodreads, bn.com

* Speaking out against them being banned

* Talking to others about them

* Posting on social media platforms about books

* Podcasting, blogging, or video-channeling about books

* Choosing a book over other content forms, including TV, movies, blogs, newspapers, etc.

* Forming or participating in a book club

* Donating books, time, or money to the library

* Volunteering at a literacy program

* Defending free speech publicly

* Voting for ballot initiatives that support the book world

* Encouraging others to read more books, especially children

* Opening a bookstore

* Working at a bookstore. library, or publisher

* Voting to support your town’s requested library budget

* Supporting politicians who support the public arts

* Support bookstore crowdfunding efforts

* Attend events involving books or authors, from book fairs and writer conferences to bookstore signings and authors speaking at libraries, schools, and elsewhere

* Buy and wear bookstore merch

* Buy gift certificates from bookstores 

* Buy books from Bookshop.org and indie bookstores

* Follow bookstores, authors, and publishers on social media 

* Visit author- and book-themed museums

* Give recognition to books and authors who did well in book award and contest competitions
