From The Author: “This is the story of a young woman named Jessica and her husband, Trevor. Life doesn’t always bless people who have completed harsh reform programs. Especially when those reform programs where an incarceration prevention program. Some people after a short while of release can’t move on from their pasts. That is what is happening to this young people at the start of the book. In less than four months Jessica’s past comes back again and forces them into an unmerciful choice. Repeat the program or die on the streets brutally murdered by your own father and twin brothers. Her husband would be murdered right beside her.”
1) What inspired you to write the book? This book originally started out as just an idea. No matter how many times I tried to walk away from it, I couldn’t. Then one day I sat in the explorer with my mother. She parked it on the side of the road and stared at the house she lived with her first husband with. As she processed all she went through. I was stunned of the things she told me. Those stories became the inspiration for this book.
2) What exactly is it about and who is it written for? This book is not only about a young couple trying to escape certain death. It is also about them trying to put together a plan to have some sort of life, at all. Providing they escape or outsmart the ones hunting them. This book was not only written for my mother. It was written for my grandmother as well. She survived a cruel childhood being born just shortly after the world wars.
3) What do you hope readers will get out of reading your book? What I really hope they get from reading my book is a whole new perspective of people that have troubled pasts. I hope they learn to take the extra two minutes to listen to their stories. We have so many lessons we can take away from those stories.
4) How did you decide on your book’s title and cover design? I didn’t have a hard time deciding on the book’s title. It stood out to me the whole time I was writing it. It was the core of the book. It is about the saving not only their current family but their future family as well. The cover design was the whole opposite. The cover was done by a cover design expert at Dorrace Publishing. I loved it the moment I saw it.
5) What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers - other than run!? My advice to my fellow writers is. Don’t be afraid to kick a hornets nest. If something calls to you, write about it. We are the ones who start changes. We must start showing people that we can make a difference by just our words alone.
6) What trends in the book world do you see — and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading? I see many trends in the book world. With the rise of the don’t offend anyone era, we are losing genres of writing. Adventure and Sci-fi have taken the worst of the attack. Drama thrillers are slowly being chocked to death by lawsuits. God bless the comedy community. They can’t tell a joke without the media doing all they can to ruin they’re public image and reputation as a writer. This is a scary foresight of the future of passion writing. If we don’t defend our right to write and publish freely we could soon lose it.
7) Where there experiences in your personal life or career that came in handy when writing this book? There were so many personal experiences I had that crept their way into the book. Working in public retail always brings interesting experiences into anyone’s life.
8) How would you describe you writing style? Which writers or books is your writing similar to? I would describe my writing style as bold, upfront, and blunt honest. I really don’t have a chance to read much. So, I can’t really say who has a similar writing style to me.
9) What challenges did you overcome in the writing of this book? This book is based around a very strict schedule in terms of the characters. It took three spreadsheets to keep all the characters on schedule. The thing that was the hardest though was hitting that submit button.
10) If people can buy
or read one book this week or month, why should it be yours? This book has
enough drama to entertain anyone. That being said it also touches on a lot of
serious and sensitive issues that just keep getting swept under the rug. This book
all but rings out rug soap suds and all.
