16 Ways To Be A Healthy Writer

Billions of dollars are spent annually to achieve greater productivity, mental wellness, and success when it comes to being a writer. Therapy, massages, retreats, conferences, webinars, and all kinds of tricks, gadgets, substances, and services are consumed so writers can feel harmony and achieve joy from their writings.

Here are 16 steps you can take — for free and without any special training — to get you in shape as a writer:

·         Prioritize and balance your day in order to get in time to write and market — as well as tend to your daily life. Be prepared to make sacrifices for your art.

·         Wake up early — get your day going before the world gets up. Carve out the time that you need to write, strategize, or market your book. Start early before things arise that steal your day, disturb your focus, deplete your energy, or stress you out.

·         Drink plenty of water to flush toxins, hydrate, and stay refreshed.

·         Practice deep breathing exercises to relieve stress.

·         Move daily to keep your head clear and the blood flowing.

·         Step away from your phone for chunks of time, to gain clarity and avert addiction and ADD.

·         Sleep in utter darkness to boost melatonin.

·         Keep reading books to get ideas, escape, and see how others structure their books.

·         Say no to negative people or things that drain your energy.

·         Smile more — watch comedians. Just to laugh rather than yell, cry, or seethe silently.

·         Fast occasionally for 24 hours to cleanse yourself.

·         Hug someone and feel connected.

·         Play games — from sports and board to video and word games — in order to keep you thinking sharply.

·         Get advice and support from one or more of these people: a life coach, book marketing consultant, writer shepherd, or a therapist.

·         Live with passion, speak your mind, and stick to your convictions. Never compromise on who you really are.

·         Look everywhere for ideas and inspiration. Read about things you never thought you would be interested in. Talk to people outside of your normal circle. Step out of your comfort zone. Get off the repeat-and-rinse cycle.
