What Sells More Books?

How does one create more book sales?

To answer that, one may examine how we acquire money in the world. Take a look:

Some inherit it.

Others steal it by force, scam, or opportunity.

A few, however they acquired some money, including loans, start a business or invest in one.

Others avoid paying their fair share of taxes, illegally or through loopholes.

Some gamble at casinos, the horse track, play the lottery, or visit online sports betting parlors, while others try handicapping Wall Street.

Some will barter their bodies on the street or with marriage.

Others file legitimate lawsuits to seek punitive damages.

And the rest will grind away and work real hard, whether blue collar or white collar. Some will even hold down two jobs and have a side hustle.

But when it comes to book sales, they only come from working hard and smartly. You can’t steal, borrow, or inherit book sales. You must invest your heart, mindshare, time, connections, knowledge, skills, and money into getting more book sales. There is no easy substitute for authors seeking more book sales.

Some authors can make a claim against anything that sells books. They may have a negative disposition, fail to experience success in life, don’t know enough on what to do to market a book, lack the skills to do what is needed, have limited time or money to invest in marketing, have low energy, suffer from a physical or mental disability that impairs their marketing, or live in a geographically undesirable area.

But do you know what makes up for that? Attitude.

Where there is a will, there is a way. Try harder.
Embrace optimism. Don’t assume the worst and seek it out. Explore new things. Experiment. Think opportunistically. Take ownership of getting your book discovered.

There are mechanical answers to what sells books —book reviews, awards, social media, speaking, news media, networking, advertising — but those are things one does. The only thing that you must possess is a good attitude, one that moves you to act, take risks, get creative, connect with others, believe in your book, and to not let fear, laziness, jealousy, or ego get in the way of hustling for sales and attention.

Remember, you can’t inherit, sue, scam, or loophole your way to book sales. All that you need could be within you. Now get to work.
