The Love Of Writing

Do you love to write? Do you know why you write and what you get out of it?

The act of writing helps us:

* reimagine things as they are into what they could be

* confront issues in our own lives

* therapeutically understand our past

* inform, enlighten, entertain, or inspire others

* record history and capture the moment

* cope with feelings and emotions

* see ourselves and provide a ledger of accountability

* see life through a new lens

* brand or rebrand ourselves

* create a product that helps others

* put together content for sale

I have always loved to write. It started in elementary school. Teachers gave extra credit for doing book reports about books that students voluntarily chose to read. This continued a little in junior high school. In my high school, independent study was encouraged. I did a ton of these book report /term papers to jack up my GPA. I loved doing them.

I write to learn how I really feel. It is therapeutic.

When I read, I feel inspired to write. Reading makes me a better writer and infuses me with ideas to write about.

I love to write because, in part, I love to read.
