Whether marketing a book -- or living your best life -- you always need to think of the big picture. If you forget why you are doing something, it makes the execution of the how harder.
Begin your day by answering your why— not your what — when it comes to your writing career.
Answer the following:
* Why are you writing today?
* Why are you marketing today?
* If you are not writing or marketing today, why
are you doing something else?
* Why aren’t you doing some writing and some marketing?
Think big picture. Then, total up all of the detailed small steps that you need to take in order to get you where you want to go.
Your why gets you motivated and inspired to take action. It informs you of what you need to do. It enlivens and empowers you.
You market today because you believe in your book, want it to succeed, believe it can succeed only if you help it, and because there is little point in writing books that won’t at least have a chance of getting read or discovered.
You write today because that is what writers do. You love it and have something worthwhile to say. We want our writings to help others, whether it teaches, inspires, entertains, or enlightens them.
You must both write books and market them on a regular basis in order to produce enough content for others to consume, and to generate more book sales.
What will you do today? First, ask
yourself why?
- Why
would you need a driver's license to purchase alcohol when you can’t drink
and drive?
- How
come we don’t spell phonetic the way it sounds?
- Can
you imagine a world without hypothetical situations?
- Why
does an airplane have flotation devices and no parachutes on board?
- If
you see a stop sign, when are you supposed to go?
- If
you eat in a restaurant, why is it called eating out but when you take
food to go you have to come inside to wait for it?
