- What motivated you to write your book, to force you from
taking an idea or experience and turning it into this book? I hear sincere questions from people who
are not getting answers in their churches. People inside churches and
outside churches ask about God, faith the purpose of life. They are
desperate to discover answers.
- What is it about and who
is it for? The book addresses the seven
big questions about God, faith and purpose that have most searched on the
Internet. No matter your faith background, we all have questions
about God, our purpose, and why bad things happen. Trying to find reliable
answers can be overwhelming. It’s hard to know who to trust with the
questions you are most afraid to ask. The book is designed for those who
have questions no matter their faith background
- What takeaways might the reader will be left with after
reading it? The reader will feel more
secure in answering these big questions, have resolved some doubts and be
motivated to continue to explore God and faith.
- How did you decide on your book’s title and cover design? The title and design come from Global
Media Outreach who acquired Explore God. Some of their original team
helped created the title and cover design. We ran a test of several covers
on social media and this cover got the most votes.
- What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow
writers? Stay with it. Persevere.
Do not give up. For me I aim to free write to just get content on the
page, then discipline yourself to edit and edit and edit again, and you
need help to edit well. You cannot fully edit your own material. You need
fresh eyes.
- What trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you
think the book publishing industry is heading? I see a move to audible books as the
highest growing category, but I think print and epub/digital/Kindle books
will also continue to be read. I think we are seeing more books in a
series as well.
- What challenges did you overcome to write this book? We edited this book more than 10 others I
have written, over a period of 7 years. It took time and seemed like it
would never happen, but now it exists. After that much time we had to make
edits based on Covid to address in the chapter on pain and suffering.
- How would you describe your writing style? My style is like an intelligent
conversation. I write as if talking with a friend who cares about the
topic and thinks deeply.
- If people can buy or read one book this week or month, why
should it be yours? This book addresses universal human questions that we often
dodge but are crucial for our souls, to live a good life here, and in the
life after.
