Do Authors Have The Best Attitude?

They say 90% of success is showing up. There is definitely a lot of truth to that, but let’s face it, you still need skills, knowledge, ideas, and connections to get ahead. Showing up is a minimal but necessary requirement — a precursor to success. What you really need is the right attitude and mindset.

This is the backbone to success, especially when it comes to book marketing.

In my experience of three decades in helping thousands of authors break through, it appears that attitude is all.

A good attitude consists of:

* Treating people fairly and nicely.

* Displaying friendly mannerisms and a good communication style.

* Your courage to live your convictions.

* Acting with confidence, kindness, and a willingness to go the extra mile.

* Achieving, not merely trying, and of not looking at excuses or where to set blame when things fall short.

* Not overthinking and valuing thought plus action vs one or the other.

* Knowing you control the choices you make — and seeking to change or create the conditions that create better choices.

* Helping others feel good about themselves, feel heard and understood, and feel special and loved.

What stops authors from taking the action steps needed to execute a successful book marketing campaign?

You may say the answers are money, time, skills, connections, and knowledge, and though they each are relevant factors, they shrink in comparison to the poor decisions that authors make every day.

Think about how authors approach book marketing.

Too often, they are:

* Making Wrong Assumptions

* Manufacturing Unreasonable Expectations

* Allowing Fake News To Undermine Their Thoughts

* Letting Their Ego Nullify The Need For Action

* Resorting To Failed Tribalism

* Letting Insecurity and Fear Blind Them

* Mistaking Dreams For Goals

It all comes down to the author’s attitude. This is what infuses and guides their book marketing success.
