Interview With Author Donald R Richter

 


1. What inspired you to write this book? Well, who doesn’t like Greek Mythology, and Merlin and the crew, I threw in the fairy war, it is a good against evil thing. They are Gods they would not have died, they live with us. 

2. What exactly is it about and who is it written for? This book is a different way to look at the Gods, they are just fallen Angels, that got trapped on Earth, and Merlin he is a sorcerer, the fairy dust is the fountain of youth. 

3. What do you hope readers will get out of reading your book? A different way to look at the Mythology, and the life in the middle ages, when Merlin was the dragon slayer, his teacher was Bobba-Yaga, how Zeus lost his crown.  

4. How did you decide on your book’s title and cover design? Well, this is a trilogy, the first book is Fairies Sorcery and the Devil, that might have to be changed, it is how the leading man gets his power and gets dragged into a fairy war, the design of this book is created by the publisher, so there are two different designs, one from Xlibris and one from Aspire.  

5. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers – other than run!? Well, I am 40K in the hole, is it a good investment, that has to be seen. This author thing is not what I thought it would be, there is always someone trying to reach into your pocket. I have 6 books out, I have done the Mythology thing my goodness that is a whole different world. I wrote 3 spy novels, and tried a semi adult action the deadly treasure hunt, filled with jokes.

6. What trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading? I believe AI will be taking over, Mystery will always be with us, murder, and history we are creating a interesting world events that will be laughable in the future, how we allowed the human kind to destroy the Earth we live in.

7. Were there experiences in your personal life or career that came in handy when writing this book? Oh yes there was, I got up for work at 3:00 am and on the days off I kept quiet writing so I did not wake the wife.

8. How would you describe your writing style? Which writers or books is your writing similar to? I just look at things a little differently, Merlin the Great if he was so great then why did he die, and Tinkerbell the Lost Boys never grew old because of fairy dust, put them together. Then if you bring back Merlin, (who is 10,000 years old in this story) why not the Greek and Norse Gods.

9. What challenges did you overcome in the writing of this book? There are so many Gods, well Angels that hide from the cleansing, (that is when God banished the Angels from coming to Earth and taking human form) and the banishment of the Blue Fairy. I worked in what Stonehenge was used for. 

 10. If people can buy or read one book this week or month, why should it be yours? Makes you think, is there Angels and Gods among us, what happened to the dragons, was Bobba-Yaga a Greek God.

Author Biography: I live up in Wisconsin, retired after working 40 years in factories, married with 3 girls, hobbies are wood working, working in the yard (11-acre yard) travel,

 I take in a few shows a year, do a little fishing, charity work, just trying to enjoy life, oh yeah, I have written six books.
