Author Mindset: Winner or Loser?

What do authors need to do to succeed? Is it promotional knowledge, marketing skills, connections, media access, social media prowess, charisma? Sure.

How about time and money? Absolutely.

And hopefully a very good book.

Throw in a measure of luck, too.

But the real answer is a positive, empowered, opportunistic, confident, and committed mindset. That is the foundation for everything.

Those with a mindset that leads to failure tend to act or feel this way:

* Procrastinates until it is too late
* Tends to be unnecessarily pessimistic
* Whines and complains without mitigating the damage
* Envies others and rages with jealousy
* Avoids taking calculated risks
* Sees obstacles as impossible to overcome

Those with a winning mindset exhibit some or all of these characteristics:

* Initiates action
* Shows persistence and discipline
* Sees things optimistically
* Will try again after failing
* Responds to opportunities and creates them as well
* Finds inspiration from setbacks

Which mindset do you have? The choice is clear.
