1. What inspired you to write this book? My inspiration for The Objective Scholar
came about while reading poetry courses online. I wanted to improve as a writer
and pursued that course of action until I landed on the depths of
what makes poets great. Learning the rules of
poetry writing.
2. What exactly is it about and who
is it written for? The poetry book illustrates the cultural and sociological
aspects of an Afro-American male raised and residing in Black America.
3. What do you hope readers will get out
of reading your book? I
hope readers will embrace the information as a positive force
that changes, adds, or improves their life. Land them in a
space of greater freedom and peace of mind.
4. How did you decide on your book’s title and
cover design? The book title is one
I’ve been mustering up since 2016 with the goal of bridging the gap with the
average person’s daily experiences. The cover design was a conversation with
the graphic artist thinking outside the box on a worldly level.
5. What advice or words of wisdom do you have
for fellow writers – other than run!? Just as the founder of Creative Literature Initiative (CLI) A
non-profit, “read every day and write every day.”
6. What trends in the book world do you see --
and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading? The trends that I see in the book world are
people feeling comfortable enough to share with the world their story. I think
the book publishing industry is heading in the direction of growth that will
allow publications of more phenomenal art created from brilliant minds.
7. Were there experiences in your personal life
or career that came in handy when writing this book? Yes, most of what I write is stimulated from
my everyday experiences and encounters.
8. How would you describe your writing style?
Which writers or books is your writing similar to? I would describe my writing style as one
taking a leap of faith incorporating poetry styles as the vehicle of my
thoughts. I’m sure there are some poets that my writing ability may remind
people of but I have no specific names at the moment.
9. What challenges did you overcome in the
writing of this book? The
challenges that I overcame with writing this book
are sharing vulnerability, honesty, opinions, truth, and love.
10. If people can buy or read one book this
week or month, why should it be yours?
I believe that people should choose my book as their monthly
choice because it has therapeutic value through topics,
comprehension, maturity, enjoyment, and relatability.
