Interview with Author Barney Harty

1. What inspired you to write this book? Thirty-five years ago 1988, I knew I was going to write this Book, within three years I had completed final checks about it, and then need to earn money basically stopped me writing it for Thirty-Five years.

2. What exactly is it about and who is it written for? The Book is about a Formula, I developed to create a quick way of gelling new players into a Football Team, which regularly had different or new players joining, with a few quick instructions in the dressing room, and on the field directions, and corrections if need they would blend-in quickly. It was written for Managers or Trainers to assist with teamplay and creative tactical management, and is a good platform for creative management in the sport, although anyone with or without interest in Football can learn lots about the game, also I feel any child over 11 can be coach using this formula. I also feel that any manager using this formula would have a base to add his own creativity as he goes forward.

3. What do you hope readers will get out of reading your book? It helps budding Football Managers with the Tactical side of Football and a useful platform to create your own Tactics in the game, and anybody in or out of the game can get some very good and useful information, because it’s a detailed Technical Aid. if a lover of the game you could also use the book while watch a game on tv by using the contents table, which gives solutions to way teams are playing this will open the eye`s to the oblivious needs.

4. How did you decide on your book’s title and cover design? t started with the words "A Formula for a Tactical Football Manager," which was change when speaking to the publishers production team member, I has rang about something else, so when I stated I was not sure about the title, He indicated that to him initial he thought my book was about computer games, I indicated that I didn`t like the two a`s in title, so I thought "A Formula for Tactical Football Management," which we agreed. The Cover was designed in house by Publisher AM my input was a suggestion that they use a 4x4x2 formation drawing I has supplied for the book and keep it simple, blog and photo on back cover.

5. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers – other than run!? I agree with you Authors need advice, and currently considering a Agent, for my next book, but that’s such a un-clear battle ground, this of course depends on how well known you are, and if high-profile doors are open, if no profile doors are closed. So go out murder someone and you will be high profile! joking of course.

6. What trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading? I can visualize more Publishers like AM, which will increase the amount of Books, and if like AM they judge you as a risk their effort will be minimal as it is with me, it`s about who you are and profile, so more books more authors, which could mean Genre will be more important, ie what is popular at the time, then that Genre will be overloaded, and unless there are a lot of Charitable Publishers out there, readers and viewers will have more of the same, Though that should not affect the Non-Fiction Market, here`s hoping.

7. Were there experiences in your personal life or career that came in handy when writing this book? I quickly found in life that with most sports my brain was tuned into what was wrong, and I was able to mental work out what would be need to correct errors, or improvement in skills required, this blossom after six in her majesty`s Army, my Educational is classed as Secondary Modern, which meant a small amount of what you call Formal Education, was repeated over and over again, which was about three and a half years, of these Revision Periods in your school week, I left school about one month before my fifteenth birthday, and on the three "r" my educational standard then far exceeded today`s modern pupils leaving at 18. My above education I feel made me strive throughout my whole life, learning, learning, hungry for learning, illustrates a problem today, over educate children and at early age you get people are fed up with learning  and consider  they know everything  I want to be the boss, not, start at bottom learning the trade and the business first, that's another book.

8. How would you describe your writing style? Which writers or books is your writing similar to?  I would like to answer that by mentioning a review I received from a AM Editor who felt I wrote in a forceful manner which came over helpful to the reader, this is my first book and being that I knew the subject because I created it was just trying to lighten it up because it is really a sports technical manual, I cannot think of any writers or books assisted me here, but I do remember Years ago I very learned friend of mine Stating "Barney if you write as you speak then your writing will be good," possible my subconscious followed that instruction.

9. What challenges did you overcome in the writing of this book? The biggest challenge  was the layout  of the book, in a technical book layout was extremely important, and I happened to do it near enough correctly,  because although you I have explained to you in this book over the years, had  practical experience laying out  technical detail and information to engineers again you be able to read in my book when I have written it, the next biggest challenge was dealing with the publisher,  one is written and accepted and checked  editorial corrections,  I was presented  with the final  read, I liked  the layout the book but had some  corrections and errors  to convey to them  which needed doing, because the book presented to me  was laid out  in production format, the only way  I could correct parts of it  was to open a  comment window and  write  my correction comment, in that window, this I done several times was probably 20  corrections needed, and  happily  sent it back about a month later I received  the final read again, same un-corrected manuscript, resubmitted with the same corrections attached, after five months and several phone calls, again final read, same copy with the un-corrected errors, one month after a couple of calls, again final read, same copy  with no corrections,  this time I rang up production  spoke to the manager  and asked him if I could  edit  this copy I had, he said he would send me a copy I could edit, I edited copy he sent me with the corrections  and errors, and sent it  directly to the production department and not the coordinator  was working  with, after a  phone call  with the production manager  he agreed that he had received my amended copy and would mark it as the correct one, at the time I had stated that I would like to see the final before print, final read came, guess it was the same old un-corrected one again, ringing the production manager again and explaining that I was not very pleased, and after a conversation he informed me that he had passed the agreed final read over to my coordinator, and it must have got muddle up there, I then found out that my Authors Number was the title of the file, I quickly explained to him that you have give a document when amended a different title ie, 132323,first amendment would be 1323323/1 etc. Couple of days later I could sign off the copy. Still having problem with marketing or lack of.

10. If people can buy or read one book this week or month, why should it be yours?  My Book is about a method of training football management, it was created with the help of talented young footballer`s, (although they were not aware of it at the time,)  developed  over the period of nine years plus, tested  on different standards and age groups,  and before testing  the time with the youth team  my results were  over the period of the nine seasons were about 94%  wins,  this dropped to  overall  with the testing results  down to just over 90%  wins, home and abroad. I feel that anybody with the slightest interest in football whether a spectator or a performer will gain some insight or knowledge about the game from this book

About The Author: A great lover of all animals, Dogs/Horses I seem to have a way with if I had written this about two weeks ago, I would have spoken about my beautiful in appearance and her way with humans, who she had a great love for, I will miss her so much. I have been single person all my life, definitely heterosexual had brief relationships with women most of my life, you will have to read my next book to get answers to any question you have regarding this. I am one of those people who have experienced most probably a greater number of dramatic achievements and experiences, and changes in my life than most people of my age who lived through the same massive changes of life, because I embraced them, I will not refer to them in this answer because it`s part of my second book, all my life I have been creative in most areas, my dislikes are of any extreme and closed minded views, my likes are when I am creating whether as in my past work, or solutions, I was raised in Victorian method so adjustment`s have been huge. Always been willing for a project but up till now once I achieve my goal I go looking for the next project, a bit like a gypsy over this subject.  For more info, please see:  https://deref-mail.com/mail/client/TtlchKe0W6c/dereferrer/?redirectUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.austinmacauley.com%2Fauthor%2Fbarney-harty
