I remember my earliest joy for books was when my
mom read books to me. Curious George, Dr. Seuss, and all of the Golden Books
were my favorites. Later, she would listen to me read books aloud. Then I would
read to myself. And eventually, I wrote my own book and now I promote them. It
all began when she patiently turned me into enjoying the written word. Thank
you, Mom!
And Happy Mother’s Day to all moms who do their best to raise good kids, and who most likely are the ones engaging their kids to become readers.
I remember when my wife and I worked with our kids to become readers. They loved having us read stories, even make stories up, but they loved the independence to read to themselves. That moment when something clicks and they start to say aloud what they see on a page is amazing.
