1. What inspired you to write this book? Heartache inspired me to write this book. On November 4, 2021, I received a phone call that a dear friend of mine transitioned to the Heavens after a car accident. And moments later as I was on the floor crying, I heard a voice tell me, “Keep going.” So, I did. I kept going with what was inside of me - feeling, listening, and acting on Divine guidance which then led me to meditate between two trees on November 13, 2021 while I was visiting Mt. Shasta, California. The meditative experience revealed the entire book to me, and without hesitation, I began to write.
2. What exactly is it about and who is it written for? The Power of Being Known is about remembering the purpose of your existence, a journey of wisdom experienced directly by connecting to the heart. The heart’s technology is more advanced than a cell phone, and the heart is the first organ to be created while you’re in your mother’s womb. If you desire to discover the power of connecting to your heart, then allow the book to guide you on an inner exploration so you can receive clarity and clearly see the beauty life brings.
3. What do you hope readers will get out of reading your book? To feel inspired to journey home towards their heart and trust they have everything they need. By doing so, they get to reignite the light within and when the light is reignited within, healing happens, transformation happens, and life begins again - a life with more love, joy and abundance; a life that brings freedom to their soul - and this sense of freedom liberates the reader to open their heart and love themself, love every single cell in their body and from that space, their love for Self creates a ripple effect that heals generations before and after them, changing history to bring more love, faith and light into the future. This future creates the New Earth that everyone is deserving of experiencing. The HeartMath Institute has proven through 30+ years of clinical research that the heart influences our awareness, intelligence, health, emotions, intuition, and perceptions. With a stronger rhythmic connection between heart-brain-body, the heart’s electromagnetic field powers up (just like a fully charged cell phone) to support the emotional and physical body, and Earth’s magnetic fields. HeartMath Institute’s emphasis on heart connection resulted in participants feeling calmer, more present, experiencing restful sleep, reduced levels of anxiety and depression, and better energy.
4. How did you decide on your book’s title and cover design? “Keep going with what’s inside of you because that’s the power of being known and that’s the title of your next book!” Words of encouragement expressed by a close connection of mine. I called her crying that morning on November 4, 2021 feeling devastated by my friend’s sudden transition to the Heavens, and I told her about the voice I heard for me to keep going. The Power of Being Known seed was planted during our conversation and then sprouted 9 days later, growing and evolving into what it is today.
The book cover design is a photo of a rose I crossed paths with while walking in my parents’ backyard garden on September 8, 2022. A half white, half pink, one-of-a-kind rose blooming from an all white rose bush. A unique experience I photographed using my cell phone. The rose is sacred, vibrating at the highest frequency (energy) than any other plant. And this fully bloomed rose on the cover of The Power of Being Known: A Heart-Centered Journey Connecting to Self, Earth, Lineage, and Love embodies growth, beauty, abundance, and the essence of Life. The rose is a Divine Mirror reflecting what’s deep inside all of us.
5. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers – other than run!? From page 132 of The Power of Being Known, “Create a sacred space for yourself to dive in and explore. Allow the answers to the questions to come up to the surface for you to feel, gain awareness, and discover the truth. Grab a pen and paper and write it out. Let your heart tell you. Lean in. Let go. Surrender. Exhale. And resurrect from the ashes.”
6. What trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading? The book world is continuously evolving. I’ve witnessed hybrid publishing companies and self-published authors offering support to inspired writers to share their creativity. Virtual events and podcast features also provide a wider reach for authors to promote their story.
7. Were there experiences in your personal life or career that came in handy when writing this book? Yes! And I share about the experiences in the book. From saving a surfer’s life during the first three months I was in physical therapy school, to experiencing enlightenment while visiting Bhutan, every aspect of my life’s journey supported me in writing this book.
8. How would you describe your writing style? Which writers or books is your writing similar to? My writing style flows naturally from the connection I feel inside.
9. What challenges did you overcome in the writing of this book? I overcame feeling afraid of stepping into my greatness.
10. If people can buy or read one book this week or month, why should it be yours? Enjoying the experience of living this life fulfills the heart’s purpose to beat and circulate blood. The heart desires you to remember everything you need is within you to feel alive, nourished, connected, and energized. The heart is created first before the brain for a Divine reason, and is available to support you with embodying the power of love so you can radiate joy, vitality, and happiness. Connecting to your heart activates inner wealth which means fear alchemizes into light, and you get to shine bright and see the treasures of your life.
