Why Do Authors Lie to Themselves?

Authors lie to themselves daily. They say things that won’t happen, promise what they won’t deliver on, and vow to do something that they have no real intention of doing. Why?

You know what gets said. Writers will say:

“I need to do x.”
But they fail to do it.

“I want to do x.”
Buy they don’t do it.

“I should do x.”
But nothing is done.

“I deserve x.”
But zero is done to achieve it.

“I will do x.”
Nope, not at all.

Authors must have PTSD from all of the psychological wars they wage routinely with themselves. They exhibit a great range of athleticism in their psychological gymnastics, but in the end, they fall flat.

Wishes get made but not acted upon; empty promises are stated, but go unfulfilled; and vows are said without backing them up. Writers bullshit themselves.

It is time to act, not talk.
Time to do, not think.
Authors, you get what you deserve, based on what you do.
