You may have a great book, an interesting
back story, and solid credentials. It would seem you have a lot going for you
to get media coverage, but of course, you will need more than these things. You
will also need some luck, a news cycle tie-in, and some good timing. What will
also help is if you can pitch yourself or book in a way that connects you to an
honorary day, anniversary, or holiday.

these special days. They list every imaginable celebration of anniversaries,
honorary days, holidays, and special weeks or months. From National Donut Day
to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you can find a reason to approach media with
a story that positions you as a relevant expert. Thumb through this ahead of
time so that you have enough time to pitch appropriate media outlets in a
