How Can The Media Feel Your Passion About Your Book?

Our emotional state of being can impact so much of our lives – influencing not only our health and quality of life, but it can play a significant role in how we pitch books to the media – and how the news media perceives us.  Are you mindful in how you present yourself to the media?

Think about it.  The media can sense:
·         Joy
·         Conviction
·         Faith
·         Substance

They can also sense:
·         Fear
·         Doubt
·         Ignorance
·         Lies

Are you giving off the right feeling in your emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings – or are you undermining your pitch by not sounding passionate, confident, and on a mission?

Of course a strong pitch comes down to certain factors, such as:

·         Message – anything new, interesting important or helpful being offered.

·         Qualifications and credentials of the author.

·         Personality of the expert spokesperson/author.

·         Timing and level of newsworthiness.

But whatever the quality of what you are pitching, first and foremost you must present it positively, energetically, and powerfully.  If you can’t get fired up, you’ll just get fired.  You need to share your message in a way that shouts:  “Look at me! This is important!”

Be mindful in how you sound, look, and act when conveying your message.  Pay attention to the specific words that you draw upon.  Everything makes a statement about who you are and the value of your message.  You want the news media to feel you – not just hear, see, or read about you.  They need to be touched by what drives you – to feel your vision, to be on your mission, to be in your shoes.
