Authors, like everyone
else, wants to live their dreams, fulfill their potential, make money, leave a
legacy, and change the world through their work. Talent, luck, resources, and a
strong work ethic may deliver results to authors. So how can an author work
better at succeeding?
1. Focus on one task at a time. Put your brain, body, and energy into the very thing you are doing. Don’t think about anything else. Be in the zone.
2. Know why you are doing what you are doing. Purpose will help inspire action and you will go the extra mile.
3. Be more efficient at what you’re doing. Look for ways to improve 10%, 20%, or even 50%.
4. Hire others to help you. Act like a manager – of yourself and others. You can succeed all on your won but it is tough to do so. It takes a team to win.
5. Set goals, measure output, and review ways to improve.
6. Learn to listen more than you talk. You will learn something and people will like you for paying attention to them.
7. Accept the inevitability of change, technology, advances, and increased competition.
8. Don’t accept failure. Never give up. Change tactics, try harder, act smarter. But do not let challenges, losses, or the unknown undermine you.
9. Ignore your shortcoming; just grow your strengths.
10. Don’t let ego get in your way. Find the easiest, quickest, and least resisted path to find success. But, where needed, be prepared to work harder and longer than anyone. No one owes you anything. You manifest your world.
11. Remain calm, smile, and grounded. Find confidence in your abilities and believe in your message and purpose.
12. Lastly, don’t procrastinate. Confront what troubles you most. Everything after that seems simple.
