Interview With Insightful Author Mark Johnson

1. What motivated you to write your book?

The book was 50% intuition and 50% playfulness. I wanted to use my story as an initiation into a life of Play. The kind of Play I encourage can only be expressed by a mature adult who can appreciate and embody the Playfulness of the Universe in its many expressions of synchronicities, paradox, humor, and being “in the zone.” My experience tells me it is often more difficult to transcend a small, self-restricted life rather than one that is more open, expansive, and willing to evolve. This book looks to create a spiritual path towards that evolution.

2. What is it about and who is it for?

The book is a profound investigation into how to discover your innate divinity. I did not write this book for what it will do for me, because I am already content with my life. I wrote it to alert every person on the planet that they are not mere waves on the vast ocean of life. They are, in fact, the entirety of the ocean NOW. All they need to do is be open to their innate divinity and allow it to flow through them until they realize they have always been the great oneness. Everything is energy and all energies resonate with like frequencies. Therefore, all they have to do is live compassionately, intuitively, spontaneously, and synchronicities and miracles will happen!

3. What do you hope the reader will be left with after reading it?

Read my book if you want to know my techniques. You will spend half the time laughing your ass off and the rest of the time you will be saying, “WOW - that was profound! Hence the title.. “Life As Play!”

4. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers?

Let the cosmos guide you to find your spiritual calling. Allow your passions speak through you to help spread your message. Your wisdom is your power, and that power can be exercised by telling your story  to the world.

5. What trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading?

I’m afraid it’s not an area in which I can offer any expertise.

6. What challenges did you overcome to write this book?

My biggest challenge in writing that book was discovering how many people are not ready to hear the message because their subconscious is sabotaging their lives. So, I put in a few more chapters as to how to integrate their subconscious. Then I noticed how much fear and doubt most people have because of their childhood training. There is so much knowledge and so little wisdom! Most people would rather live a life of drugs and surgery rather than how to strengthen their immune system! So, I added more chapters on how to do that. Too many are used to their dark caves and shadows that they won't come out of the cave and greet the sunshine!

7. If people can buy or read one book this week or month, why should it be yours?

It is the only book that integrates the 9 Chakras of Daoists to cure themself. (The Hindus have seven) and deep breathing techniques to direct it to the area of the body that needs it.

Author Bio: Few Westerners have training in the multitude of Chinese disciplines that Mark Johnson has. In addition to Tai Chi instruction, Mark specializes in Qigong (which is self-healing through moving high frequency energies throughout the body.) He also taught three styles of Feng Shui (which is the study of the energies of an area) and he was also involved in writing one of the most popular versions of the E Jing (which is China's ancient classic on how things change). He also teaches Chinese calligraphy to his students on his many trips to China and he is also a founder of the National Qigong Association and has conducted many Tai Chi tournaments in the past 28 years.
