Authors, Enjoy Being You!

“There is no one alive who is youer than you.”

Dr. Seuss had a way with words, even making up a few in order to get a point across in rhyme fashion. But one of his best sentences reminds us to be the best we can be, that we are unique and special, and that we should live our lives authentically.

So, how do you enjoy being you as a writer? What is the DNA of your writing style that distinguishes your writing from all others?

Writers have a lot at their disposal to give their works a unique stamp. They can use the following to reflect their individuality:

* Vocabulary level
* Pace of action
* Length of a book or piece
* Subject matter
* Themes
* Voice: tone, attitude, persona
* Setting, time period, and location
* Level of description
* Syntax and grammar
* Emotions displayed
* Values shared

Not sure what to write today? That is okay. Dig deep and just be the you that is youer than anyone else could be. It should be enough.
