Sometimes writers lose their way. They need a mantra or inspirational principle to live by. What is yours?
They feel drained from rejection — and burdened
just by the fear of being ignored or denied. They can suffer writer’s block or
get overwhelmed by their marketing needs. Life, too, can be burdensome with its
complications due to relationships, money issues, health matters, chores, and
day-to-day interactions with irascible, agitating morons.
How does the writer refuel, capture a positive
mojo, and feel the support needed to drive himself to succeed? The writer must
dig deep into his or her inner being to find hope, desire, strength, and
confidence.
Writers search for help, fulfillment, and rewards
everywhere. They often turn to other people or activities for support or
inspiration, including these:
* Family and friends can help — or hurt.
* Therapists and coaches can assist — or confuse
us.
* Entertainment and travel provide escapes — but
don’t solve anything.
* Sleep relaxes us — but doesn’t change things.
* Food and addictions keep us going — but take us
nowhere.
* Religion gives us hope and comfort — but it
can’t get us published or marketed.
Writers need to go beyond absorbing pain,
setbacks, and frustration. They need to do more than engage in distractive behavior.
They simply need a foundational principle, mantra, or rule to live by as it
concerns writing and marketing their work.
What is — or will be — your guiding principle?
