Marketphobia. Marketitis. Publicitis. Publicityphobia. Call it what you want. Do you suffer from it — and seek a cure?
I am talking here to authors who fear, hate, or dislike marketing their books and promoting themselves. What can be done to alleviate you of this affliction?
You certainly can:
*
Ignore marketing.
*
Outsource your marketing.
*
Collaborate with a publisher or publicist.
* Immerse yourself utterly into your marketing.
What’s it gonna be? You are in a battle.
Will you serve your feelings and emotions or will you take risks and incur some pain to get results?
Will you make excuses from the sidelines or will you sacrifice and try harder?
Doing nothing is an option but it guarantees failure, so let’s eliminate that.
Outsourcing your marketing can be expensive but fruitful.
Doing it all by yourself can be quite challenging and not cost effective when you consider what your time could be worth.
Collaboration is the best balance, blending your efforts and abilities with the efforts of professionals.
Have
a plan. Take action. Seek a cure to marketphobia — and promote your book. By
doing what you can to help yourself you will save money, time, effort
