My son, now 15, has always been a go-getter. He thinks like an entrepreneur, marketer, and criminal – each are very helpful to making one successful. He’s assertive, aggressive, and energized when it comes to making money or pursuing his passions, which include droning, boating, and photography. The other day he took a page out of my PR playbook and on his own, thought of how to get more Instagram connections. His approach is one that can work for you, as an author, to grow your social media, site clicks, or book sales.
So what did he do?
He employed a strategy that serves him well, utilizing the art of asking, bartering, and following up. That, my friends, is what PR is all about.
He thought strategically. He developed an idea. He did some research. He took action. He followed up. He kept pushing, until people responded.
The path to growing his followers comes down to asking many people to post his drone footage (which is quite impressive) and tagging him when the footage is posted. Not only would people hopefully post some of his cool images, they would take him up on his offer to film them, via drone. Why not?
Everyone on Instagram, especially if a teenager, wants to be famous and tends to post about themselves. Too young to offer any expertise or advice on anything of substance, these teenagers love to post about themselves and highlight their looks, fashions, passions, or possessions. So why not just give them back more of themselves with a video Boswell to record their moves?
What are these kids gonna say? No, I don’t want to be filmed? Of course they do!
Fame, fortune, and PR is all a numbers game. Have a successful idea, product or service. Do it well. Share it with others. Get others to share it with others. Repeat and rinse.
By the way, here's a sample of my son's droning photography: https://www.instagram.com/p/CDcJySTHC_l/?igshid=1hx0anlq2rbdz
