Selling Your Book Online

As an author and entrepreneur you will no doubt sell your book online. Once you determine your target market for your book, go out and sell it! Your online business plan will look something like this:

1.      Form a company name and create your logo and tagline.

2.      Buy a URL or several domain names after brainstorming and researching.

3.      Create a web site map and design/layout your plan – then find a Web designer if you are not doing it yourself.

4.      Write your web site copy.

5.      Build up your social network by connecting with people on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

6.      Take care of basic legal stuff – incorporating, getting any necessary insurance, opening a bank account, etc.

7.      Apply for a credit card merchant account or some way to take money online.

8.      Consider setting up an account with an email marketing list management service.

9.      Create your press kit for the media, marketing kit for sales, and a speaker’s kit to solicit speaking gigs.

10.  Craft a business plan and a timeline for execution.

11.  Look into where and how you will advertise while also exploring getting people to advertise on your site.

12.  Take steps to maximize your site’s SEO capability.

13.  Apply common sense and use logic, but also dream big!

If you want to know about online trends and to see what is hot, go to Yahoo! Buzz, Twitter Trends, or Google’s Zeitgeist. You will need every competitive advantage possible when looking to be an infropreneur. Know which factors and figures could make your book and marketing approach unique and profitable. Always look to see how you can commercialize, capitalize, and cannibalize!

Use, a free site owned by amazon, to get a review and traffic analysis of your site --  and your competitors’ sites.

To further spy on competitors, go to Google and type in the web site of a competitor. You will be able to see who links to their site (It’s a reverse link). You can see who is aligned with your competitor and see if you can work with them as well.
