Timothy McMaister (The Time Waster) and Rosy La Propper (The Eavesdropper)
1. What
inspired you to write this book?
Over the
past few years, I've noticed kids in general, but also my grandkids struggling
with too much screen time. I wanted to create a series of books that addressed
this issue, but also other areas of struggle.
2.
What exactly is it about and who is it written for?
Screen Time
vs Family Time. For parents/caring adults to start a conversation with the kids
in their lives.
3. What do
you hope readers will get out of reading your book?
Realize they
can adjust their habits!
4. How did
you decide on your book’s title and cover design?
Because it
rhymes! I found a freelance illustrator that nailed the artwork!
5. What
advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers – other than
run!?
Find a need
and write about it!
6. What
trends in the book world do you see -- and where do you think the book
publishing industry is heading?
I have no
idea!
7. Were
there experiences in your personal life or career that came in handy when
writing this book?
I've been
writing curriculum for myself in a church setting for over 30 years. Over the
years I've written stories to help a lesson come at kids from a different
angle.
8. How would
you describe your writing style? Which writers or books is your writing similar
to?
Dr. Seuss.
Clever rhyming with funny illustrations.
9. What
challenges did you overcome in the writing of this book?
Fear of
rejection!
10. If
people can buy or read one book this week or month, why should it be yours?
I think
people will be entertained by the rhymes and illustrations.
