Authors Need To Give In Order To Get
Many authors want a lot — and offer little. That is not a good combination. You want to be the opposite: demand or expect little and be ready to give of yourself, work tirelessly, make sacrifices, and take on risks.
They have low budgets to promote their book, are not available in terms of time or effort, they avoid social media, can’t travel, and feel shy about doing speaking engagements. But, they desire a publishing contract, seek out a Netflix deal, and want to see their book sell well.
Stop Editing Classics!!
The only books that should be revised are non-fiction texts whose facts are outdated or were never correct — and now no longer provide accurate representations as a result. Changing any words in a work of fiction is unnecessary, blasphemy, and just plain ridiculous. Stop the mind control. Stop treating everyone as fragile. Stop tinkering with classics. We should not scrub everything of its soul. Preserve our literary history and culture by dropping the censor’s scalpel. Book burnings, book bans, book cancellations, and book butcherings are abhorrent and anti-American. Stop this war on words!
Nobody Has Ever Listened Themselves Out Of A Sale
“It's more important to understand than to convince. Prospects buy because they feel the salesperson understands their problems. It's what Ori from Allegro Piano in the story at the beginning of the book practices, and it's something sales champions know: great questions make the difference and set up a salesperson for success. That, of course, runs counter to what most people think of as "selling." It's not the salesperson talking; it's the salesperson getting the buyer to talk.
“Learning to ask effective questions takes
time, and crafting great questions takes preparation. I am always stunned when
salespeople don't feel the need to consider in advance the questions they are
planning to ask in a first buyer meeting. Only very few actually write them down
and practice them before the meeting. And even fewer are confident enough to
take out their notebook with the prepared questions in front of the prospect.
Meanwhile, prospects absolutely respect this.
Try it!”
