27 Cliches To Good Writing

Some people are against using cliches, but they work perfectly to demonstrate exactly what you are trying to convey. I say, use more cliches!

Here are my 27 faves:

·         gin up

·         swim against the tide

·         open the floodgates

·         fly under the radar

·         don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater

·         punch above one's weight

·         hit the nail on the head

·         welcome with open arms

·         a gold mine

·         penny-wise and pound-foolish

·         red flag

·         warp speed

·         ground zero

·         singing a new tune

·         cash cow

·         the tip of the iceberg

·         the writing's on the wall

·         throw a Hail Mary

·         full-court press

·         armed to the teeth

·         pull the plug on

·         sweep under the carpet

·         throw under the bus

·         the jury is still out

·         make a long story short

·         truth be told

·         a new paradigm
