When a book is published, it is like when a baby is born. The hard part is just beginning. Just as when parents are now tasked with feeding, clothing, and nurturing that infant, raising one until he or she finishes college, an author must birth a book and then secure its readership.
Writers have to work hard often, consistently,
and purposely in order to brand themselves, have their message heard, and get
books sold.
We need to raise our books to be successful.

* Enjoy And Live Their Book Marketing Mission
A book, like a child, has great potential — to be a success or a failure. Both take effort, time, energy, preparation, and money. Be vigilant and tend to your book as if a child. No one else will do this but you.
Like a parent who relies on a village of help — grandparents, school, nanny, baby-sitter, etc — the author should utilize professional help and outsource some tasks to book marketers and publicists. It is tough to go it alone.
Some books may never go anywhere no matter
what you do, just as some children may not excel at school no matter how many
tutors you employ. But ya gotta try and do your best to raise your child to
fulfill his or her potential. Do the same for your book as well.
